Chico Electric is looking for a Utility Interconnections Assistant to join our Solar and Renewables team.  


Wage Range:  $16-$20 per hr. 


Position Summary:

Responsible for managing the application for solar interconnection on the customer’s behalf, ensuring that the company is following program rules. Interacts daily with multiple Teams, including public utility and internal teams, such as Sales, Operations, and Engineering. Ensuring that utility interconnection approval is received requires a significant amount of administrative work including the retrieval and coordination of information, completing detailed and technical applications and submissions, relationship management, management of deadlines and milestones, and attention to detail.


Essential Job Functions: 

  • Application Management
  • Prepare, review, and submit a utility applications and claims ensuring compliance with all relevant utility guidelines and agreements.
  • Problem Solving
  • Identify issues and develop suitable solutions and processes. Address incoming inquiries in a timely, efficient, and professional manner.
  • Update notes in the internal database for all related tasks and manages project status changes
  • Follow up on inquiries about Utility Interconnection status in a timely, efficient, and professional manner
  • Email and phone communication with colleagues and utilities to ensure interconnect process move smoothly
  • Pro-actively contact utilities on the status of projects and get clarification on utility requirements


Essential Job Requirements: 

Driving:  Current, valid Driver License for State where you will drive, meet company auto insurance qualifications

Education:  High School or equivalent, College and Trade school is Preferred

Experience: Solar Sales, Utility process, Solar Coordination

Required skills: computer skills – Windows, Word; Excel, Outlook, ability to use internet; ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, knowledge of office equipment; filing, writing letters; the ability to work independently under pressure and deadlines

Preferences: Good phone skills, work well under pressure, multi-taking abilities

Physical RequirementsAbility to sit at desk and computer for up to 8 hours per day; bending; reaching; stooping; lifting up to 20 pounds; traveling around the office for meetings, including walking up and down stairs, communication with others; using office machines and equipment; drive a company vehicle; visit and walk construction project sites; climb ladders;  work at heights.
